Responsibilities

Here is a guide on how we should all go about business together. It’s written in plain English, and is based on the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated.

This guide is always a work in progress, and we will update it from time to time.

Mindset First—Lifting Second

Many factors go into a good workout and active lifestyle. Two main factors are sleeping well and eating properly. You can work your ass off in the gym, but if you aren’t eating good foods in the correct amounts, or getting sufficient sleep; then recovery, muscle building, tissue healing, and fat loss will be substantially impaired.

Please make these two pillars a priority in your day-to-day. We are always happy to advise.

Who is in charge of What?

You are in charge of you, and your trainer is in charge of the workout. If a workout movement isn’t a good idea because of an injury, or it hurts, DO NOT push through. Tell your trainer what’s going on.

We like to have a good environment where we challenge ourselves, but do not make bad decisions that can lead to injuries.

Ask Questions

Your trainer is HAPPY to share knowledge with you. That’s why we’re all here!

“What is a good fat loss goal for the next 2 months?”

“I’d like to be able to do pull-ups. What can we do to work toward that?”

“Will you help me decide if I should be taking this fitness supplement?”

“Why are we using this workout format lately?”

All great questions.

No Bitching

Exclaiming is always allowed. You can swear, appeal to a deity, or just say gaaahh!

“I’m dying,” “How do you sleep at night?” or “This is tough” are perfectly acceptable.

If you find yourself complaining about your workout, remember why you started improving your fitness.

If you think the format of your workouts should change, discuss with your trainer. If you have a special request, your trainer will try to work it into that day’s plan if possible, or a day in the future.

If you find yourself not wanting to do a certain workout movement that day, suck it up. We do certain things during our workouts to achieve our goals.

Enjoy the trees on your way through the forest.

Billing

Metal Wellness offers a monthly rate for your one-on-one training plan for the purpose of facilitating consistency.

Each monthly invoice represents the amount of expected sessions per week, times the per-session-rate, times 4 weeks.

Your monthly invoice is considered to be a certain amount of sessions, and is not considered to be a nebulous month. Therefore, if you or your trainer need to take a planned absence for, say, a week, then you are not charged for that week. Your billing date will be pushed ahead by a week. We are happy to offer you this financial convenience.

Metal Wellness accepts checks, cash, and several forms of digital payments. We do not use credit cards. Payments are due in advance for the upcoming month.

Metal Wellness also offers two-on-one training for a lower rate per person than one-on-one training.

There is a per diem rate for training, if you choose not to use the monthly plan. Available upon request.

From time to time we will have to make a modest rate increase. You will be informed at least 30 days in advance.

Planned Absence

If you or your trainer have to be absent for any length of time e.g., for travel, your account will simply be placed on pause. Your billing date will be pushed ahead as a result (as mentioned in the Billing section).

Your trainer will probably not be in the gym during major holidays.

Refunds

Metal Wellness does not offer refunds for any training sessions already completed, or for any training sessions paid for in advance. Please plan ahead accordingly. If you need to terminate your training, and would like to transfer unused training sessions to someone you know, that will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Booking

We schedule one calendar week out. Calendly.com runs our scheduling operations. The preferred ways to make appointments are

  1. to have regular appointments that your trainer enters for you each week, or

  2. to enter your own appointments once the schedule is open for the week.

The latter is for clients who have a varied schedule, and are not able to keep concrete times. Your trainer will notify you between Friday and Sunday when the calendar is open for the upcoming week.

Metal Wellness will use the email address you provided to create appointments. You will receive a confirmation email generated by Calendly for each appointment. If you sign-in to your calendar app with the same email address Metal Wellness has on file for you, then your training session will auto-populate on your calendar (which is super convenient).

The confirmation email and the automatic calendar entry will each have a Reschedule and Cancellation link for that session. If you need to modify your appointment, please try these links before you notify your trainer.

The Booking page can be found here:

Rescheduling and Cancellations

Your time and our time is precious. We will do everything we can to make sure that we don’t waste yours, and kindly ask that you do the same for us.

If you know you cannot show up for your next session, please click the Cancel link on your confirmation email or on the calendar entry for that session, and then text your trainer ASAP to confirm.

A cancellation made 12 hours in advance will not be held against your account. A cancellation made within 12 hours of your appointment will result in that session being billed as usual.

We are more interested in you getting your workout than billing you, but the schedule is tight. If you need to cancel a session, but we can smoothly reschedule to a different time that week, that is preferred over cancellation. We can’t guarantee that we will find a slot to reschedule into.

Extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis.

Life happens sometimes.

If your trainer makes a mistake and does not show up to a scheduled training, he will offer his abject apologies, and credit a no-charge training to your account.

Accidental Double Bookings

If for some strange reason you are involved in a double booking, and it is your trainer’s mistake, you and your new workout partner will be offered a two-on-one workout for that appointment free of charge.

Referrals and Bringing a Guest

Feel free once in a while to bring a guest—just for fun, or to recommend that they start training. We are happy to do this courtesy at no charge! Just let your trainer know in advance. (We will ask your guest to agree to a waiver).

If you send someone our way, and they purchase a training package, we will credit your account for a session as a thank-you.

Termination

Any client in good standing may train with Metal Wellness for any length of time that he or she wishes. If you need to end your training for any reason, please give us ample time to make sure we end with a zero balance on your account.
